Making my tenancy work for me - An E-Learning module and step by step guide

THE HUB
As a tenant you have responsibilities for maintaining your home in good condition.

The landlord is responsible for maintaining the property but the tenant must inform them if repairs are needed. The landlord is also likely to have set out different timescales in which they will carry out repairs depending on how serious they are.
Tenants are responsible for putting their rubbish out, this may be in individual bins or in a communal bin store. The LA will pick up rubbish on a regular basis and the tenant must find out when these ‘bin days’ are.
If you are getting rid of any old pieces of furniture/ white goods, contact the LA to remove these properly. This is called a special collection.
If you want to decorate your home or make alterations to it, you need to check with the landlord that it is ok to do that. If you make changes without asking permission, the landlord may charge you to return the house to what it was.
