Making my tenancy work for me - An E-Learning module and step by step guide

THE HUB
Tenants sometimes need support for making a success of living independently. If your landlord or you felt you needed support, they might have arranged a support worker for you.

Sometimes a member of staff from the landlord will come and visit you after you have moved in to see that you are getting on ok.
You need to make sure your rent is paid on time and in full. It is likely that your landlord will have some form of electronic payment available – either through a payment section on their website or a direct transfer system with a bank.
Make sure you know:
  • How and where to pay rent
  • How often rent needs to be paid
  • Why it Is important that rent is collected
  • What will happen if you fall behind with your rent
  • Whether you are entitled to benefits
  • Whether you need to pay service charges

Universal credit

This is a new type of benefit and claimants need to include the rent element or make arrangements to have the rent paid direct to landlord.
If you feel you are struggling with any aspect of living in your home (paying the bills, making friends, eating properly, keeping your home tidy), CONTACT YOUR LANDLORD as soon as possible to discuss these issues.
