Ben’s Story
Ben went along to meet Darrin…

Ben and Darrin got on well and Ben really liked the flat and the location. He found out about the different things that were going on in the area.

Ben went back to Joan and they made all the arrangement for him moving in. Ben had also agreed that he could do with some support to help him towards living on his own which Joan arranged.

After three months of flat sharing, Ben moved into his new flat.

His support worker had put him in contact with a young person’s project where he could hang out with other youngsters. From them, he learned about an apprenticeship at his local garage where he now works.
Ben signed an occupancy agreement while he shared the flat with Darrin. This is a form of legal arrangement for people sharing, where they are from different households (and more likely to be used in temporary situations). The occupancy agreement will have responsibilities set out.
